State Budget Solidarity Checkout. Retiree at the benefit fund for the pensions. Holding the open purse on the counter he is presented a pay freeze by grinning Federal Labour Minister Ulla Schmidt (SPD). The whole is repeated a few times until finally the sign "retirement payout" is changed to "State Budget Solidarity Checkout", and Mrs Schmidt unabashedly reaches into the open wallet: "That is 200 euros, please ...". 2005, when the cartoon was drawed, I of course had no idea of the political vocabulary of 2013 which names state-sanctioned expropriation of savers as everyday socialist jargon used by European rulers. What I invented at the time as fictional "State Budget Solidarity Checkout" was, however, already pretty close to the reality of currently practiced "Euro rescue". But woe, woe, woe, when I look at the end.
