Wannabe cosmopolitans. Denglish. The jargon of the would-be cosmopolitans who present themselves as apparently sophisticated by clumsily using English phrases in their German sentences. At the reception of a hotel the employee says to the guest couple from the U.S.: "Das habe ich misunderestimated ... wenn die timeline critical wird, werden wir gern rearrangen!" Nobody understands that gibberish, neither a German nor an English speaker. Unencryptedly it should have meant: "I've misjudged that ... if this was to be a timing issue, we would try to compensate through a change of schedule." His boss, however, is not bothered by the Denglish fad of his young co-worker: "His grammar is still a bit bumpy, but his vocabulary - amazing." (2012).
